The HW group Poseidon2 4002 is an IP-based monitoring and control device for server rooms, data centers, control cabinets and industrial environments. It can connect up to 40 sensors (16 via 1-Wire/1-Wire UNI and 24 via RS-485), provides 12 digital dry-contact inputs (DI) for detectors, offers 4 relay outputs (NO/NC) as well as 8 virtual digital outputs. Thanks to the large selection and high number of inputs and outputs as well as secure network protocols, it is ideal as a solution for remote monitoring and control.
Configuration is conveniently performed via the integrated web server. The device can also be monitored remotely over the Internet via the SensDesk portal and the SensDesk Mobile app (iOS and Android). Poseidon2 devices communicate using secure M2M protocols (HTTPS, IPv6, SNMPv3), support more than 50 SNMP and SCADA applications according to the manufacturer, and can be integrated into IoT solutions via MQTT.

Poseidon2 4002 (Base unit)
Monitoring device with 16x 1-Wire/1-Wire UNI and 24x RS-485 sensor connections, 12x digital dry-contact inputs (DI), 4x digital NO/NC relay outputs and 8x virtual digital outputs (VDO). Without accessories, ideal for customer-specific configurations.
Poseidon2 4002 TSet
Includes all functions of the base unit. Additional accessories: plug-in power supply (EU, UK, USA), Temp-1Wire Rack 19" (temperature sensor for 19-inch racks), Temp-1Wire 3m IP67 (temperature sensor), door contact sensor, 19-inch rack mounting kit, HWg-PDMS-8 license (software), screwdriver and software CD.
Poseidon2 4002 POE
Includes all functions of the base unit. Extended features for professional applications: additional support for specialized sensors (e.g. Pt100/Pt1000), increased compatibility with third-party software and preconfigured settings for complex applications. No additional accessories included.
How the Poseidon2 4002 is built
The robust metal housing measures approximately 218 x 104 x 38 mm (W x H x D), weighs about 710 g and complies with IP40 protection class.
Metal housing and mounting
The housing can be mounted as a 1U device in a 19-inch rack (rack mounting kit), outside the 42U area, on a DIN rail, on the wall or on a desk.
Ethernet and web server
An RJ45 Ethernet port (10/100 Mbit) connects the device to the network; an integrated web server is used for configuration and reading measured values.
Sensor connections
Several RJ11 ports accept 1-Wire/1-Wire UNI sensors (up to 16 sensor values in total), an RS-485 connection integrates industrial sensors (up to 24 values). Optional hubs such as Spider or Poseidon S-Hub expand the connection options.
Digital inputs and relay outputs
Twelve screw-terminal inputs (dry contacts with S0 pulse counters) as well as four relay outputs (NO/NC) for external loads.
Power supply
Supply with 9–30 V DC (approx. 250 mA) via barrel jack or terminal block. An additional screw terminal can also supply external sensors such as motion or smoke detectors. Power supply via PoE or −48 V is optionally available.
RS-232 interface and status LEDs
An RS-232 interface allows the local connection of e.g. a GSM modem for SMS alarms; LEDs on the device front indicate the operating status.

Via an external GSM modem or the HWg-SMS-GW3 gateway on the same LAN (available separately), also shareable as a netGSM gateway for multiple devices.
Relays & remote relays
Local relays switch e.g. a backup air conditioner or restart a server; virtual outputs control relays of other Poseidon2/Damocles2 devices.
Reminder & status report
Alarm reminders as well as periodic status reports by e-mail ensure that no events are missed.

Commissioning in just a few steps
Setup of the Poseidon2 4002 is performed entirely via the web browser.
- Mount the device in the rack, on a DIN rail, on the wall or on a desk
- Connect the power supply (9–30 V DC; power supply already included with the TSet variant)
- Connect the device to the network with an Ethernet cable
- Open the device’s IP address in the browser (initial discovery e.g. with HWg-Config possible)
- Connect 1-Wire/1-Wire UNI sensors to the RJ11 ports or RS-485 sensors to the RS-485 connection
- Optional: wire dry contacts (smoke detectors, door contacts, etc.) and relay outputs

What is the HW group Poseidon2 4002 and what is it used for?
The Poseidon2 4002 is a LAN-based monitoring and control device for server rooms, data centers, control cabinets and industrial applications. It records sensor values and contact states and alarms in the event of critical events.
What is the difference between the base unit, TSet and POE variants?
All variants offer the same basic functions. The base unit is supplied without accessories, the TSet includes a power supply, two temperature sensors, a door contact, a rack mounting kit and an HWg-PDMS license, and the POE variant is also supplied without additional accessories.
How many sensors can be connected?
The Poseidon2 4002 supports up to 40 sensors: 16 via 1-Wire/1-Wire UNI and 24 via RS-485. In addition, 12 digital inputs are available for detectors.
Are SMS notifications possible without an additional device?
No. For SMS and call alarms an external GSM modem or the HWg-SMS-GW3 gateway on the same LAN is required (available separately). E-mail and SNMP trap alarms work directly over the network.
What are virtual outputs (VDO)?
Virtual digital outputs can be mapped to the physical relay outputs of other Poseidon2 or Damocles2 devices on the same LAN. This allows switching operations to be triggered across devices.
How is the Poseidon2 4002 powered?
The device requires a DC voltage of 9–30 V (barrel jack or terminal block). A matching power supply is included with the TSet variant; power supply via PoE or −48 V is optionally available.
Can the Poseidon2 4002 be integrated into existing systems?
Yes. Via SNMP v1/v3, Modbus/TCP, XML and MQTT the device can be integrated into monitoring, SCADA and IoT environments; the HWg-SDK contains programming examples in several languages.
