The galvanically isolated voltage sensor for mains voltage on the 1-Wire-UNI bus
The HW group Sensor 230V AC 1W-UNI measures the RMS value of the mains AC voltage from 100 to 240 V and outputs it in volts via the 1-Wire-UNI bus. The input is galvanically isolated from the 1-Wire bus, allowing the mains voltage to be safely decoupled from the monitoring electronics. The sensor is designed for DIN-rail mounting and occupies two modular units.
Typical applications include the detection of voltage fluctuations and power outages. The measured values are processed by Poseidon2 (LAN) or Ares devices (GSM) and are thus available for monitoring apps and portals. The sensor supports both 110 V/60 Hz and 230 V/50 Hz and is therefore suitable for grids in Europe as well as in North America.
Power is supplied directly via the 1-Wire-UNI bus (RJ11); a separate power supply is not required. Additional 1-Wire-UNI sensors can be connected in a daisy-chain configuration via the second RJ11 socket.
Reliable monitoring of mains voltage
The sensor provides a single, clearly defined measured value: the current mains voltage in volts.
Measuring range 100–240 V AC
For 110 V/60 Hz and 230 V/50 Hz grids; the input withstands voltages up to 250 V AC.
Accuracy 5 %, resolution 1 V
Sufficiently accurate to reliably detect under- and overvoltage as well as power outages.
Measuring period approx. 1 second
Fast update rate for timely detection of voltage fluctuations.
Galvanically isolated bus
The 1-Wire output is electrically isolated from the sensor’s power supply side.
Two RJ11 connectors
Daisy-chain capable: additional 1-Wire-UNI sensors can be easily connected in series.
How the Sensor 230V AC 1W-UNI is constructed
The slim DIN-rail housing combines the mains input and bus output on opposite sides and keeps both galvanically isolated.
DIN-rail housing, 2 modular units
The housing can be mounted on a DIN rail in a control cabinet and occupies two modules in width.
Mains connection L and N
On the top side are the labelled terminals for the phase conductor (L) and neutral conductor (N), to which the mains voltage to be measured is connected.
Two RJ11 sockets for the 1-Wire-UNI bus
On the underside are two RJ11 sockets: one for connection to the monitoring device, the second for additional 1-Wire-UNI sensors in series connection.
Galvanic isolation
There is electrical isolation between the mains input and the two 1-Wire sockets, so that no mains voltage reaches the bus.
Bus power supply
The sensor electronics are completely powered via the 1-Wire-UNI bus; an additional power supply is not required.

GSM variant: Voltage detection and measurement via mobile radio
- A PowerEgg2 detector reports the presence of the supply voltage as a 0/1 signal to the digital input of an Ares device
- The Sensor 230V AC 1W-UNI measures the supply voltage in parallel (110 V or 230 V)
- Connection to an Ares 12 device via the 1-Wire-UNI bus (RJ11)
- The internal battery of the Ares device continues to supply the sensor even in the event of a power failure
- Alarm via e-mail or SMS as soon as the voltage is outside the “SafeRange”
- Connection to SensDesk.com as well as display in Android and iOS apps
Individually calibratable

Frequently asked questions
What is the Sensor 230V AC 1W-UNI and what is it used for?
The sensor measures the mains AC voltage from 100 to 240 V and outputs the value in volts via the 1-Wire-UNI bus. It is used to detect voltage fluctuations and power outages as well as to monitor UPS inputs and outputs.
Which devices can the sensor be connected to?
With HW group devices that have a 1-Wire-UNI input, for example Poseidon2 and STE2 via LAN, Ares via GSM or LTE, as well as SD-2x1Wire and NB-2x1Wire as IoT devices with portal connection.
Does the sensor require its own power supply?
No. The sensor is powered directly via the 1-Wire-UNI bus (RJ11). The mains voltage to be measured is only connected to the input terminals L and N.
Does the sensor also work in 110 V grids?
Yes. The sensor supports both 110 V/60 Hz and 230 V/50 Hz.
How accurate is the measurement?
The measuring accuracy is 5 % with a resolution of 1 V; the measuring period is approximately one second. If required, the sensor can be calibrated at up to 8 points.
What happens in the event of a power failure?
The connected evaluation unit reports the voltage drop or the value outside the “SafeRange” via e-mail or SMS. With Ares devices, the internal battery continues to supply the sensor even during a power failure.
Can additional sensors be operated on the same bus?
Yes. Additional 1-Wire-UNI sensors can be connected in a daisy-chain configuration via the second RJ11 socket.
How long is the warranty?
