The HW group Temp-485-Pt100 Box2 is an industrial temperature sensor with a Pt100 platinum measuring element that communicates via the RS-485 interface using a simple communication protocol. The probe is located in the tip of a metal rod protruding from the housing, enabling precise and direct temperature measurement. The sensor is designed for wall mounting, protected to IP65 against dust and water jets, and covers a measuring range of -30°C to +70°C.
The Temp-485-Pt100 Box2 is specifically designed for connection to the Poseidon2 4002, which handles both the power supply (12V) and data transmission. Alternatively, the sensor can also be operated with an external power source. The Temp-485-Pt100 Box2 is offered as a single version – there are no variants or options for this model.

How the Temp-485-Pt100 Box2 is built
The plastic housing (approx. 145 x 62 x 35 mm, approx. 107 g) is designed for wall or table mounting and is suitable for operating temperatures of -30°C to 70°C (0–100% RH) and a storage environment of -30°C to 60°C (5–95% RH).

The IP65-protected housing accommodates the RS-485 electronics; the actual Pt100 probe is located in the tip of a metal rod protruding from the housing, which immerses directly into the medium or environment to be measured.
Terminal block for RS-485 and power supply
Connection to the RS-485 bus and to the power supply is made via a screw terminal block inside the housing.
Wall or table mounting
The housing can be fixed to the wall or placed freestanding on a table.
Software addressing
The RS-485 bus address is set via commands directly over the serial interface, not via hardware jumpers.

The Temp-485-Pt100 Box2 belongs to the Temp-485-Pt100 product family and uses its simple, text-based RS-485 communication protocol (ASCII, 9600 baud, 8N1).

Installation in a few steps
The Temp-485-Pt100 Box2 is integrated directly into the RS-485 bus cabling of the Poseidon2 4002.
- Mount the housing at the desired location on the wall or place it on a table
- Connect the terminal block via RS-485 (A, B) to the bus of the Poseidon2 4002
- Establish the power supply: either directly from the Poseidon2 4002 (12V) or externally with 10–35V DC
- Assign a unique bus address via software command if multiple sensors are operated on the same bus
- Connect further Temp-485-Pt100 Box2 sensors with their own address in series on the same bus
- Set up the sensor in the Poseidon2 4002 to provide the measured values via Ethernet
